What OwnerRight is

OwnerRight is a research and recommendation service. We describe software, financial products and services that a small business might buy, and we recommend from among them based on what you tell us about how your business runs.

We are not a party to anything you buy. Every purchase, contract, subscription and dispute is between you and the provider.

What this is not

Nothing here is legal, tax, accounting, insurance or financial advice, and we are not licensed to give any of it. Several of the areas we cover — business formation, insurance, payroll, tax — carry real consequences for getting them wrong. Where the decision matters, take advice from someone qualified to give it.

What we do not claim to cover

Our catalog is not the whole market. It covers products available through the partner networks we work with, which means there are good products we do not list. We say so plainly rather than implying a completeness we do not have. The commission disclosure sets out exactly how that works.

Accuracy, and what you should check

Product details change without telling us. We record when we last checked each one and show that date on the page, but a price, a feature or an availability rule can be out of date by the time you read it. Confirm anything you are relying on with the provider before you commit, particularly pricing and whether a product is available where you operate.

Where we do not know something, we say we do not know. An absence of information is not a statement that something is absent.

Recommendations are opinions

A recommendation is our editorial judgement applied to what you told us, produced by a scoring model we publish in full on the methodology page. It is not a guarantee of suitability. You know things about your business that six questions cannot capture, and where our answer conflicts with what you know, you are probably right.

Your use of the site

Use it for its purpose. Do not scrape it wholesale, do not misrepresent our assessments as a provider's own claims, and do not republish our editorial judgements as if they were yours.

Liability

We provide this service as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from a decision you made after reading it. That is not an attempt to disclaim responsibility for the quality of our research — it is a statement that buying business software is your decision and carries your risk.

Changes

We will update these terms as the product changes, and the date at the top will change with them.
